According to CPWR, Center for Construction Research and Training, “Between 2011 and 2015, the annual number of fall fatalities in construction increased by 36%, exceeding the growth in employment and total fatalities in this industry.” Falls are a common cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in the construction industry.
Two leading field safety experts will deliver important safety updates at METALCON 2018. Joe Allen with Thomas Phoenix International will present “Arrested Developments,” an overview of the new requirements for personal fall protection systems, including a new fixed ladder guard, full body harnesses and personal fall arrest systems on Wednesday, October 10 from 3:00 – 3:30 pm. On Thursday, October 11 from 3:00 – 3:30 pm, join David Weatherford, Quality Safety Manager with Tyler Building Systems, as he reviews the use of cell phones in the workplace in his session titled, “Driven to Distraction: Why Isn’t this Changing.”
