Precision matters — secure your insulation the right way.

When it comes to securing roofing and wall composite insulation panels, not all fasteners are created equal. The right choice can mean the difference between a long-lasting, weather-resistant installation and one that fails under pressure. Whether you’re working with structural insulated panels (SIPs) or rigid insulation, understanding which fasteners to use — and why — can save time, money and future headaches. In this guide from Hunter Panels, we break down the best fasteners for the job, from SIP screws designed for heavy-duty applications to specialized insulation anchors.

Question:

What fasteners should be used with Hunter Panels and Hunter Xci products?

Answer:

SIP fasteners are designed for use with Hunter Panels and XCI wood composite panels, such as NB, Cool-Vent and XCI Ply. For all other Hunter Xci Panels, Grip-Deck CI Screws and Prong Washers or Plasti-Grip PMF Anchors may be used.

Ensuring maximum performance with the right fasteners

Selecting the correct fastener is essential to maintaining the integrity of your installation. SIP fasteners, such as SIP WD and SIP SD, are engineered for secure attachment in wood, concrete, CMU/masonry and 18-22 gauge steel studs, ensuring structural stability for Hunter Panels roofing and Hunter Xci wall insulation systems. SIP HD fasteners are designed specifically for heavy-duty steel substrates, including 12-16 gauge steel studs. Meanwhile, Grip-Deck CI Screws and Plasti-Grip PMF Anchors are specialized for securing non-composite Xci rigid insulation panels. Use Grip-Deck CI Screws and CI Prong washers to attach non-composite Xci panels to wood or steel studs. For cement and masonry substrates, Plasti-Grip PMF Anchors provide for simple installation: Pre-drill hole, then tap flush with hammer. By selecting the appropriate fastener for your specific substrate and insulation type, you can optimize performance, durability and energy efficiency while ensuring proper installation.
