Choosing a Metal Roof Panel Profile

New Tech Machinery Metal Roof Panel Profile
April 3, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

Need to decide on a panel profile to add to your service line up? Learn how to pick the right one using this informative guide.

Buying equipment can be stressful, especially when it is a product you’ve never worked with before or there is an expansive range of varying sizes and styles of a single product. With panel profiles, it can be tricky whether you’re a new buyer of a portable roof panel machine or aren’t sure what profiles will suit your existing rollforming equipment. As each machine can make drastically different profiles, knowing the basics of how to identify profiles can be very useful.

New Tech Machinery manufactures a range of machinery, and the profiles they create are identifiable based on which of their machines are being used and for what purpose. Here are a few questions to ask yourself to better narrow down profile options.

What is your current business plan and expansion efforts?

The first step is going over what type of metal roofing business you currently have or hope to soon run. Do you work primarily in commercial or residential settings? The differentiation is important to note as certain profiles fit commercial work better than residential. Another question to ask yourself is do you currently offer or plan to offer gutter installation services or specialize in panel supply? If being a panel supplier is an area you lean towards, it would be a good idea to get a machine that matches the profiles your average customer would need.

Does the architect have strict specifications?

Sometimes contractors will receive specific requirements for the project they’ve acquired, whether by the project engineer or architect. The documents and plans they create will often share these specifications as well as other requirements such as legal necessities or building codes. This information can often inform you of what type of profile the project and similar work needs to have.

What local building codes and panel profiles are common in your region of work?

If your work is done within a certain region or state, the architecture work around you can be an insightful clue into what the most common panel profiles are in your area. It is also a good idea to study the regional building codes and if there are panel profile requirements. These clues are a great guide for picking a profile and equipment based on what is popular in your own area.

With this information in mind, narrowing down the panel profile options available to you should be much easier. New Tech Machinery offers a detailed and insightful guide that goes further in depth about the process of picking panel profiles and portable rollforming machines.
