CertainTeed Expands Matterhorn Line into Canada

CertainTeed Canadian Expansion
March 15, 2019 at 6:00 a.m.

Canadian builders and contractors will soon be able to offer their customers a superior impact-, fire- and wind-resistant metal roofing option.

CertainTeed’s luxury metal roofing line, Matterhorn® Metal Roofing, will be available throughout Canada in the first quarter of 2019.

Matterhorn Metal Roofing utilizes mottling, chiseling and other techniques to replicate the look and charm of real wood shake, quarried slate and traditional clay tile roofing, in a deep-drawn steel format that is lightweight, fully recyclable and energy-efficient. It also features an anti-corrosive proprietary paint coating system and 16 cool roof-rated colors that reflect up to 66 percent of the sun’s rays.

Matterhorn’s design also makes it stronger than typical steel and features Class 4 impact resistance, Class A fire resistance and a 130-mph wind rating. Roofs built with Matterhorn have a life expectancy of more than 50 years, allowing it to have one of the strongest warranties in the industry and making it highly suitable for Canada’s typically harsh winters. Due to its durability, longevity and energy-saving cool roof color options, Matterhorn often qualifies for home insurance discounts.

Matterhorn is available in tile, shake and slate.

Tile: With its classic elegance and long history, tile remains a popular choice in many parts of the United States. Matterhorn Tile replicates the classic look of a Tuscan villa, with a world-class steel manufacturing process that makes it both lighter and stronger than standard clay tile. A special roll-formed, tongue-and-groove snap lock along each panel hides fasteners, creating a seamless look. Matterhorn Tile roofs boast a 50+ year lifespan and come in eight colors that can be used to comply with 2016 California Title 24, Part 6 cool roof requirements.

Shake: Matterhorn Shake is expertly designed to capture the character of real wood in the form of protective steel. Its stylized chiseling creates the eye-appealing texture and dimensionality found in traditional cedar shake, while engineered steel protects it from splitting, rotting or molding. This algae-resistant, low-maintenance roofing is available in four colors that can be used to comply with 2016 California Title 24, Part 6 cool roof requirements.

Slate: A rolling stone gathers no moss and neither does Matterhorn Slate metal roofing. Lightweight and durable, Matterhorn Slate’s patented paint system captures the timeless, natural beauty of mottled stone in the form of steel. Available in four colors that can be used to comply with 2016 California Title 24, Part 6 cool roof requirements, this innovative roofing product provides the architectural look of slate without the need for upkeep. With a 50+ year lifespan, Matterhorn Slate combines convenience and natural beauty into a well-engineered, worry-free roofing product.
