CertainTeed, a leading North American manufacturer of sustainable building materials, recently announced a new shrink-wrap packaging for its WinterGuard Granular and Sand products.
CertainTeed strives to make continuous, sustainable advancements across all facets of its business, and this improvement to the packaging of its WinterGuard Sand and WinterGuard Granular underlayments provides contractors and customers with a lighter alternative to boxes.
The new packaging contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and global warming potential and reduces the warehouse footprint, ensuring customers can store more product. It also allows for more rolls per pallet with roll weight reduction, leading to a reduction in freight costs. With the new shrink-wrap packaging, products are easier to handle and more resistant to outdoor elements.
What’s more, from the transportation of the packaging alone, CertainTeed is expecting a significant CO2 emission reduction, contributing to a greener supply chain.
The new WinterGuard packaging was made possible by significant investments in CertainTeed’s Shakopee, Minnesota plant to help improve the palletization and packaging of its products, further positioning the brand as an industry leader committed to a more sustainable future and aligning CertainTeed with its purpose of making the world a better home. As part of Saint-Gobain, the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction, the brand continues to lead the conversation and drive bold progress toward a more sustainable built environment.
CertainTeed’s WinterGuard waterproofing shingle underlayment is a composite of asphalt polymers, ensuring vapor-tightness and elasticity. This protective barrier is able to stretch and seal around nails driven through it. What’s more is that it is part of the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System, delivering top-notch performance. The product is now in sustainable shrink-wrap packing for two of its finishes, including Granular, featuring embedded granules for superior traction during application and Sand, featuring embedded sand to enhance traction during application.
