The winner of the 2023 Castagra Roofing Scholarship Program is Quinton Godfrey, who is currently at Western Carolina University pursuing a career in Construction Management. In addition to his interest in construction management, Quinton is deeply passionate about contributing to the roofing industry and promoting sustainability in the field through the use of environmentally friendly materials and practices. His goal is to one day be CEO of a large construction company with a focus on sustainability, and remain involved in community outreach programs and educational initiatives to improve the industry for future generations to come.
Quinton shared, “My goal is to give back to my community by speaking and educating kids on what it takes to pursue a successful career in construction, which is something I wish I had growing up. I've never seen any black construction managers in person or on tv, this is something that I will change. I envision myself playing a vital role in implementing sustainable roofing solutions. I will strive to promote the use of environmentally friendly materials and practices that minimize the carbon footprint of construction projects. Whether it's the development of more durable and weather-resistant roofing materials or the implementation of smart technology for monitoring and maintenance, I will be at the forefront of these advancements and ensure they are incorporated into the projects I manage. I will also encourage the next generation to consider careers in construction and expose them to the potential. I am excited to take on the challenge of revolutionizing traditional practices and leaving a lasting impact on the construction and roofing industries.”
