Solar Atmospheres of California (SACA), a vacuum thermal processing service facility has more than 60 furnaces for vacuum heat treating and brazing. Because of their high demand for energy, their plant in Fontana, California was seeking the largest solar system possible. Thanks to SunGreen Systems and S-5!® the facility now has the state’s largest commercial combined solar and energy storage system.
SunGreen and their energy storage partner, Stem, recommended the use of both solar and battery storage. They also used an analytics platform powered by artificial intelligence to optimize the building’s energy usage. All the solar modules were secured in place using S-5!’s PVKIT® solar solution, which provides simple and easy attachment for mounting solar PV onto metal roofs without the need for rails.
All of these components working together means the service facility can optimize their energy usage through energy expense reductions and renewable power generation. Plus, due to the long service life of the metal roof combined with durable S-5! engineered attachments, the roof will outlast the life of the solar PV system, eliminating costly disassembly of the PV array, re-roofing and re-assembly. Most alternative roofing systems will expire long before the life of the PV system.
Throughout the course of the project, the S-5! team worked directly with the on-site crews to ensure best practices for rail-less installation.
CEO of SunGreen Systems Inc., John Hoffman said, “There is a myriad of reasons to choose S-5! from reliability, cost and ease of installation, which our customers appreciate. It demonstrates to them that we choose the right products for each project, and S-5! has a solution for every metal roof we come across with rail and rail-less solutions.”
