Call for Nominations for Gold Circle Awards!

Now is the time to acknowledge outstanding contributions to roofing through the Gold Circle Awards. 

The roofing industry is full of expertise and excellence worth celebrating! Now is the time to recognize individuals for their achievements in this field.  

The Gold Circle Awards program was created to recognize National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) members for their outstanding contributions within the roofing industry. They are now calling for nominations! Unique roofing related jobs, services and programs are all eligible for consideration of a Gold Circle Award. The deadline for entries is Friday, Oct. 28, 2022.  

Submission requirements  

Nominations must be made by NRCA members by their peers and community (self-nominations will not be accepted). Nominees must be NRCA members and the project/service submitted must have been completed between June 1, 2020, and May 31, 2022. No resubmissions will be considered.  

Contents of nomination package should include 

  • Detailed description of the project, program, service or event from conception to completion. 

  • Description of how the project went above and beyond typical procedures. 

  • What made the project, program, service or event outstanding in workmanship, innovation or safety. 

  • Letters of recommendation from the building owner and other unrelated third parties. 

  • Testimonials and detailed explanations. 

  • Photos should include before, during and after photos—pre-construction, tear-off, work in progress and completion. Brief videos are acceptable as a supplement to photos.  

  • High-resolution photography that shows: 

  • Project and/or application process. 

  • Safety-related matters/issues. 

  • No safety violations. 

  • Close-up shots of workmanship  

Award categories 

Outstanding workmanship 

This award is applicable to steep-slope, low-slope and metal projects that have gone above and beyond standard roofing practices. Submitted projects should be useful, creative and unique and nominations should articulate what made the workmanship on the project exceptional. The NRCA is looking for examples of: 

  • Particularly challenging jobs. 

  • Difficult design jobs. 

  • Abnormal working conditions. 

  • Difficult materials used. 

  • A safety element that resulted in the project being incident free. 

Innovative solutions 

This award applies to a unique or smart solution to a problem be it through use of a software program/service specific to the roofing industry, innovative equipment or environmentally focused projects. The NRCA is looking for examples of: 

  • A smart or unique solution to a problem. 

  • An innovative business solution. 

  • Innovative software as a service. 

  • Innovative equipment. 

Safety preparedness and performance 

Safety is essential to the success of any roofing project. This award highlights exemplary safety preparedness, execution and review. The NRCA is looking for examples of: 

  • Specific safety considerations that were considered and included in the proposal as the job was bid. 

  • The project-specific written safety plan that describes and illustrates: 

  • How safety was integrated into unique job elements/ 

  • How multiple trades or unique worker or public protection issues were addressed if applicable. 

  • The fall-prevention plan 

  • Post-job review: 

  • Describe what safety policies and/or procedures were revised/created as a result of a near-accident or other unforeseen circumstances or hazards that arose during the job. 

  • Describe the results of the safety efforts. 

The benefits of winning 

All entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges within the roofing industry with the highest-ranking entries becoming winners. In addition to serving as an inspiration for fellow NRCA members, Gold Circle Award recipients will receive formal recognition during NRCA’s Industry Awards and Celebration held during NRCA’s Annual Convention and the International Roofing Expo®, a Gold Circle Awards trophy, Recognition in Professional Roofing magazine and press releases notifying industry trade press and local media. 

This is an excellent way to validate your business and quality of your work in the eyes of your customers. Having your work recognized internationally not only helps with sales and marketing, but builds a culture that fosters your crews being proud of their work and accomplishments.
