From safety guidelines to OSHA regulations to every little task on site and behind the scenes, there’s a lot to keep track of when starting a new project. It can be difficult to keep all of this in your head but WSRCA has a tool to make it easier! In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Megan Ellsworth met with Stephen Zasadil to talk about the WSRCA Safety Companion App.
Stephen has been on all sides of safety in the industry, joining the safety field specifically in 2008. He taught first aid and CPR to crews and from there moved into “full-time consultation for OSHA compliance, job site inspections, things like that,” he shared. It was through this transition that he began working for OSHA and achieved his “CHST through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in 2016.” With his broad experience in safety, he was brought on by WSRCA to help develop their new app, the Safety Companion App.
The purpose of this app is to mitigate common safety concerns on the job. This can be anything from lack of training on OSHA regulations, gaps in inspections, lost documentation and miscommunication. These can cause a series of dangerous events, but the WSRCA Safety Companion App is designed to address these specifically! Stephen explained, “We've got onsite inspections requirement and equipment inspections all that through the app. Then instead of having paperwork that either gets lost or damaged, you can just send it off digitally to your respective safety people.”
The app also provides easy access to training (on OSHA regulations and more), fall plan templates and equipment inspections to keep everyone on the same page! And this app is not stopping here. It is already evolving to include industrial work trucks and other types of equipment that have specialized safety needs.
