The J.A. Piper Award is the industry's most prestigious honor, recognizing roofing professionals who have devoted constant outstanding service to NRCA and the roofing industry.

The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) has announced Bruce McCrory, operations/business development manager at Nations Roof, Gulf Coast LLC, is the 70th recipient of its annual J.A. Piper Award. The award was presented at the association's 130th Annual Convention held March 1-3 in Las Vegas. The J.A. Piper Award is the industry's most prestigious honor, recognizing roofing professionals who have devoted constant outstanding service to NRCA and the roofing industry. McCrory, who served as NRCA's chairman of the board in 2012-13, currently serves on the association's Nominating Committee and National Roofing Council.

Prior to serving as NRCA chairman of the board, McCrory served as NRCA chairman of the board-elect from 2011-12; vice chairman from 2006-08 and 2009-11; and director from 1998-99 and 2004-09. In addition, he has served on many committees, including serving as chairman of the Affiliate Relations, Budget and Finance, Manual Update and Technical Operations Committees as well as director of the National Roofing Service Corp. Nations Roof, Gulf Coast also is a member of The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress. "He embodies unfailing generosity, time and spirit not only for the roofing industry but for his community," says fellow former NRCA Chairman of the Board and 2016 J.A. Piper Award recipient John Gooding, chairman of the board of GSM Roofing, Ephrata, Pa. "He has maintained steadfast devotion to the industry." "A lot of us never decided to go into the roofing business, we just got there, and thank God we got there," McCrory says. "I love you people, this business and this association." First presented in 1948, the J.A. Piper Award is named for former NRCA Chairman of the Board Joseph A. Piper, whose extraordinary efforts kept the association alive during the Great Depression.

NRCA is one of the construction industry's most respected trade associations and the voice of roofing professionals and leading authority in the roofing industry for information, education, technology and advocacy. It represents all segments of the roofing industry, including contractors; manufacturers; distributors; architects; consultants; engineers; building owners; and city, state and government agencies.
