Beacon of Hope Contest Awards Veterans With Safe Roofs

Beacon of Hope Contest Awards
February 3, 2021 at 6:00 a.m.

Canadian winner and four runners-up announced.

Beacon today revealed the winner of its first-ever Canadian Beacon of Hope campaign, a nationwide contest awarding Veteran homeowners with new and safe roofs. As part of Beacon’s giving back to its communities, the contest was open to all military Veterans in Canada. Together with Veteran-friendly roofing companies, Beacon will deliver and facilitate the necessary roof repairs and replacements to the home of the Veteran contest winner at no cost to the recipient. Also, three runners-up will receive $2,500 to help complete necessary repairs on their roofs. In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Beacon has also added a fifth finalist award; $1,500 to help complete necessary repairs.

“People from across the country rallied behind these deserving Veterans to cast thousands of votes,” said Charles Michaud, VP of Canada. “We are committed to giving back to the men and women who give their lives to protect us and our freedoms. The Beacon of Hope contest is just one way we can give back to our Veterans who could use some assistance with a basic necessity: a safe place to live. It’s an honor and privilege to give back to these deserving Veterans and their families.”

From November 2 through December 7, the public nominated Canadian veterans facing adversity at go.becn.com/BeaconOfHopeCanada. The public had the opportunity to vote for the five finalists from December 14 through January 6.

Today, Beacon announced that John B. from North Lancaster, Ontario received the most votes and will receive a new roof. The Veteran runners-up include:

  • Terrence G. – Desbarats, Ontario

  • David H. – Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

  • Frederick M. – Mulmur, Ontario

  • Murray R C. – Milton, Nova Scotia

The winner’s roof work will be completed during spring 2021. Read about the Veterans’ inspiring stories and learn more about the contest at go.becn.com/BeaconOfHopeCanada.
