Beacon Launches Beacon of Hope Program to Donate Roofs to Veterans

Beacon Beacon of Hope Campaign
August 15, 2019 at 6:00 a.m.

The nationwide contest was put in place to help veterans facing adversity.

Beacon Roofing Supply launched its Beacon of Hope contest on July 29 and is looking for nominations of veterans who are in need of a new roof. Many Veterans who have served our country often face adversity in the years following their service. The hardships they endure include financial issues, unemployment, health related issues (mental and physical), homelessness and so many more.

Beacon of Hope was created to give back to our Veterans who are in need of a basic necessity: a safe place to live. We hope to inspire our employees, customers, and communities to come together to help us in our efforts to provide our Vets with a "Beacon of Hope."

Beacon Military Program Manager Brian Link said, “We are going to put five roofs on veterans’ homes across the country. The contest runs from now to September 20th and after that we will review the entries and select the top five entries will get a new roof.” Brian said that Beacon plans to award those who finish in the number 6 through 10 spots with $1,000.

The contest is open to any qualifying veteran, so long as the entrant resides in one of the fifty (50) states of the U.S. or the District of Columbia (D.C.) at the time of entering the contest, and so long as the entrant is 18 years of age or older. You can nominate yourself or another veteran now through September 20, 2019. In order to qualify, you will need to submit three photos of your house or the house of the person you are nominating and a brief explanation of why you or that person is deserving of winning the “Beacon of Hope” contest.

Eric Swank, Beacon COO, said, “The Beacon of Hope contest is one way we can give back to the men and women who have given so much to our country. Too many of our nation’s veterans are living under roofs in need of repair, often as a result of being on a fixed income. It is our privilege to give back to our veterans and their families. “

A special thanks to CertainTeed corporation for agreeing to donate all the materials for the new roofs. Once the five winners are selected Beacon will be looking for contractors in the cities where the winners’ homes are to contribute labor for the installation.
