The annual awards program recognizes asphalt roofing projects across North America, celebrating craftsmanship, durability and aesthetic excellence.
The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) honored the winners of the 2025 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards at the International Roofing Expo (IRE), held February 19 - 21 in San Antonio, Texas.
The annual awards program recognizes the top low- and steep-slope asphalt roofing projects across North America, celebrating the craftsmanship, durability and aesthetic excellence that asphalt roofing provides.
During the event, ARMA presented giant ceremonial checks to this year's Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners and an official certificate to the Best-in-Class Award winner.
Each medal-winning company received a monetary prize (Gold – $2,000; Silver – $1,000; Bronze – $500), along with recognition on ARMA’s website and social media platforms, industry authority-boosting materials, and national and local trade media exposure.
“The energy at the International Roofing Expo was electric as we recognized this year’s winners," stated Reed Hitchcock, ARMA executive vice president. “The contractor recognitions were moments of pride — not just for the winners, but for the entire industry, as we celebrated the innovation and dedication that asphalt roofing professionals bring to the field every day."
2025 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards winners
Gold Award winner:
Urban Grind Roofing LLC – Grand Pinnacle Project – Cornelius (Cornelius, North Carolina)
- Project overview: Urban Grind Roofing LLC replaced a failing roof with CertainTeed's Grand Manor® Shingles in Brownstone, known for their luxurious, slate-like appearance. The steep 16/12 pitch required expert craftsmanship, including the installation of 34 custom-fabricated metal valleys and crickets to eliminate dead valleys. CertainTeed’s Class 4 impact-resistant, Class A fire-resistant shingles provide wind resistance up to 130 mph while offering a striking aesthetic. The transformation exemplifies how asphalt roofing delivers both reliability and beauty.
Silver Award winner:
GPD Flatroofing Ltd. – Penn-co Office Steinbach (Steinbach, Manitoba)
- Project overview: GPD Flatroofing Ltd. executed a state-of-the-art roofing solution for Penn-co Office's headquarters. Using Polyglass materials and heat-welded asphalt applications, the design ensures resilience against Manitoba’s severe winters. Despite challenges such as high upstands and structural penetrations, the team’s precision delivered a robust, aesthetically appealing system that accommodates thermal expansion and contraction while enhancing architectural sophistication.
Bronze Award winners:
Cool Roofs – The Grand Manor on Johnson Road (Germantown, Tennessee)
- Project overview: Cool Roofs transformed The Grand Manor on Johnson Road using CertainTeed’s Grand Manor® Shingles in Weathered Wood, enhancing the home's aesthetic and providing lasting protection. The project faced challenges in preserving landscaping and the swimming pool, so solutions such as a job site protection system and a lift machine were used. The homeowner chose lightweight asphalt shingles for their traditional charm and durability, resulting in a visually appealing, multi-layered shingle roof that exemplifies roofing excellence by merging beauty and resilience.
Stonebridge Roofing, Energy & Exteriors – The Bailey House (Fernandina Beach, Florida)
- Project overview: Stonebridge Roofing, Energy & Exteriors meticulously restored The Bailey House, an 8,000-square-foot Queen Anne Victorian built in 1895 in Fernandina Beach’s historic district. This project required special permitting due to strict preservation standards and involved navigating a steep roof while protecting stained-glass windows. The team installed GAF Timberline® HDZ™ Shingles in Slate, known for their durability and aesthetic compatibility, resulting in a historically preserved, weather-resistant roof that will last for generations.
Best-in-Class Award winner: Craftsmanship category
Elevated Roofing and Siding – Stubbs Park Amphitheater (Centerville, Ohio)
Project overview: As part of the renovation of Stubbs Park, Elevated Roofing and Siding transformed the amphitheater’s aging roof while integrating upgrades for sound, lighting and accessibility. The curved, angular design of the amphitheater posed unique challenges, which were met with precision and creativity. Owens Corning TruDefinition® Duration® Shingles in Driftwood were chosen for their flexibility and weather resistance, ensuring long-term protection. The project showcases exceptional craftsmanship, enhancing the venue's charm and making it a welcoming community space.
The International Roofing Expo provided the perfect backdrop to celebrate these industry awards, with attendees engaging in networking opportunities, photo sessions, and discussions on the latest advancements in asphalt roofing.
