“There are a few reasons that you need ventilation. The biggest being, it prevents cold weather condensation that can really affect the life of your roof. And that could happen in I think, three different ways. Two of the biggest ones being heat and moisture build up,“ says Samantha. “So heat in the summer, moisture in the winter. And then the third biggest reason is it can prevent from ice damming. So we all know that ice damming can damage your gutters, it can damage your eaves. The ventilation will really help prevent that.”

Ventilation is a year-round consideration, and a huge part of maintaining the right equilibrium is educating homeowners on this essential function of their roof so that moisture doesn’t cause damage. Additionally, teaching them about ventilation helps homeowners reduce their energy consumption and better understand the maintenance that their attic needs is a part of their roof maintenance.
