Are You a Veteran Who Now Works in Roofing? Tell us Your Story!

TAMKO Military Veterans Stories
November 18, 2020 at 6:00 a.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

Share your story and you could get TAMKO koozies for your team.

RoofersCoffeeShop® (RCS) has teamed up with TAMKO Building Products to honor and share the stories of our military veterans. This November, we will be the sharing stories of our nation’s veterans who have now found a home in the roofing industry.

TAMKO continually hires veterans and proudly supports them in the roofing industry through generous financial and product donations to wounded servicemembers and nonprofit veterans’ organizations. They recognize the value that veterans bring to any organization and want to encourage veterans to consider joining the roofing industry. TAMKO and RCS are asking for responses to this questionnaire to help us share the stories of veterans who are now working in the roofing industry.

Many of our country’s veterans have a hard time finding their place after returning to civilian life. VA.gov reports that, “A veteran may have never looked for, applied for, or interviewed for a civilian job, especially if he or she had a career in the military. These are new skills he or she will have to learn and master.”

Bringing a veteran onto the team and training them to learn the skill of roofing is a perfect opportunity to help them transition into a new career. The National Roofing Contractors Association has developed a wide array of training courses and certification opportunities that can help our country’s veterans become very skilled at roofing.

We want to hear your stories of success in roofing! We will share some of those stories on RCS because we love learning about the fine people that make up our roofing industry. We’d love to see your photos too, just be sure that if you are taking a photo of yourself on a jobsite, that you keep in mind safety! We don’t want to expose anyone to an OSHA violation, and we want everyone to stay safe on the job.

Submit your story today!
