The roofing industry is making wishes come true in South Florida with the Roofing Contractor Association of South Florida’s annual fishing tournament. In 2017, they raised over $120,000.00 and with each wish costing on average $5,000.00 per child, RCASF granted 24 children wishes. With the mission of being dedicated to professionalism, quality & education, the South Florida association will once again be hosting its annual fishing tournament for the 39th time.
Lynne and Earl Johnston of Earl W. Johnston Roofing out of Hollywood, FL have been committed to granting wishes since 2015 and Lynn along with Gene Fall, Dave Clark, Anthony Utter, Lewis Buckner, Pablo Acanda, Erica Bergeron, Corey Daley, Luke Turner, Ryan Toimil, Bridget Keller and Wendy Harvest are on the committee for this amazing fundraiser. The dedication of the roofing industry in South Florida has allowed fellow roofing contractors, manufacturers, distributors and service providers to share in the joy of giving. In 2015, the RCASF Fishing Committee initiated their Signature Sponsor Program with Earl W. Johnston Roofing gifting $5,000 or 'one wish' to a child in need. In 2016, the program expanded to six Signature Sponsors each donating one 'wish' and in 2017 they now have eleven!
“Our goal is to raise more money this year than in 2017,” stated Lynne Johnston of Earl W. Johnston Roofing who serves on the fishing tournament committee. “To have eleven signature sponsors is amazing. Combine that with all of our associate sponsors, we know we will break our record again this year.”
A large part of the success is also attributed to the sponsorships of associates like Contractor’s Cloud, “Lynn asked us to be involved and we knew immediately we wanted to help,” stated Dwight Gunnarson, CEO of Contractors Cloud. “It is a momentous event and the contractors of South Florida do an amazing job helping the Make-A-Wish foundation and the International Game Fish Associations Junior Angler Division (IGFA).”
Contractor’s Cloud sponsored the kickoff party on May 16, 2018 for this year’s tournament scheduled for June 8-10, 2018 at Whale Harbor Marina & Event Center, Islamorada in The Florida Keys. “There will be a Friday night reception, Saturday weigh-in followed by a dinner auction and Sunday awards brunch,” continued Johnston. “We encourage fellow roofing professionals to get involved by donating fishing-related items for auction, as well as financial sponsorships.”
For this year’s tournament they have secured an amazing venue that offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean in a stylish setting with first class cuisine! “We have stepped up the amenities this year,” stated Johnston. “People really don't want to miss this one, it is going to be great. We are so appreciative of all our sponsors.”
