Since metal roofing has really gained popularity over the last few years, its high demand has resulted in an increased demand for a variety of colors to appeal to home and building owners preferences. And contractors are appreciative of Titebond keeping up with the wide range of colors available by providing color matching sealants. In this episode of the Roofing Road Trips podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth is joined by Darci Kunard of Franklin International, known for their Titebond product line, to talk about color matching sealants and how Titebond makes it more convenient than ever to find the perfect color match.
“[Contractors] love it. I mean, it's been around quite a while and we just are expanding our offerings. Because, as you said, there's a lot of new players in this industry. And I mean, metal roofing is taking off, and metal siding. So it's become a thing where we've been able to really glom onto that color matching and make sure that we are up to date on all the latest colors and the new manufacturers,” Darci shares.
Titebond has made it easy and convenient for contractors to find that perfect color match through a link on their website, making it accessible whether you’re in the office or out on a jobsite. At the top of their website, under color match is a dropdown list of all the manufacturers of metal siding and metal roofing. “You will actually see all the ways that we match. So they have a specific color, obviously in their line. Say, for example, they have a harvest blue. It will tell you what color of ours matches that,” Darci explains. “We also do custom color matching as well. So we've gotten a little bit of people who are really into a very specific color. Maybe they created it themselves. They've got a 10,000 square foot home and they've done this amazing roof, so they need a very specific color. So the benefit of that is you don't have to repaint the caulking.”
In addition to color matching, Titebond products are high quality, which means fewer callbacks for repairs.. “A lot of people use silicone on the roof for sealants. And unless it's UV rated and you really make sure that it's not going to yellow, it's just not going to look great over time,” says Darci. “So our formula doesn't do that. It doesn't degrade. We have UV inhibitors in there. Obviously, the adhesion is bar none if you're trying to stick to a coated metal. We have a lot of adhesion promoters in our sealant as well.”
