Effective commercial roofing project management means focusing time and effort where it counts.

By Cindy Grigg, JobNimbus

It’s easy to stray away from project management strategy when schedules get busy. These helpful tips for commercial roofing project management should help you stay on track.

  1. People first Managing projects is really just managing people but it is easy to get distracted from this by everyday tasks. Tasks only matter because people matter. Keep your project management focused on the customers you serve and remember that your team drives your success. TIP: Choose a project management software that also contains a customer relationship management (CRM) tool that will help you build your business around your customers.
  2. Quality control Always deliver quality products and services and do it consistently. When you do it right the first time there will be fewer headaches later. TIP – Leverage a project management software that lets you create quality control workflows, checklists and other accountability tools.
  3. Automation As your commercial roofing company grows, consider automating repetitive tasks. TIP – Look for simple, top-rated tools that offer customizable automation for your project management tasks.
  4. Speed and reliability When accurate, reliable information isn’t available, decision making can turn into a back and forth bottle neck. Project managers need effective reporting to make good decisions. TIP – Your project management software should make it easy to monitor, track and report critical information.
  5. Document management Business workflows can generate a lot of paper. This can make communications between the office and the field difficult and can even detract from your bottom line. TIP – Digital document management tools can make it simple to go from paper to digital.
  6. Simplicity The more a project manager can simplify for their team, the better the business will run. TIP – The best tool for commercial roofing project management should be a hub for everything your team does. It should also integrate with other tools your company relies on such as QuickBooks and other services.
