5 Signs a Building Needs a Foam Roofing System

By General Coatings Manufacturing.

By the time your customers notice their roof is having problems, the damage could be more extensive than they realize.

Cracks, holes and chipping happen slowly over time. Once air and water are allowed to penetrate into the building, they can cause severe damage to the attic, walls, flooring and other components of the structure. When the owner notices the problems, he or she may already be looking at thousands of dollars in repairs or a roof replacement.

Help your customers know what to look for to prevent problems before they become too bad. For instance, explain that if they notice water spots along the walls or a buckling ceiling, it’s a safe bet that more significant issues are lurking behind the surface. When it’s time to repair the roof, consider patching it or replacing the surface with spray polyurethane foam. Below, we explore six signs a building needs a foam roofing system and why.

1. Inconsistent temperature inside

If the owner reports always adjusting the thermostat inside, it may be a sign that there are cracks or holes in the roof allowing air to get into the building. No matter how close to the desired temperature they try to get inside, it won't stay there for very long. Spray foam creates a seamless thermal blanket over the roof that eliminates air flowand they won't have to worry about fluctuating temperatures ever again.

2. When it rains, it leaks

The owner reports a leaky roof. SPF roofing insulation can form a tight seal around their entire roof surface so that water has no chance of getting in. Spray foam contracts and expands with the changing temperatures, so they never have to worry about it cracking, breaking, or chipping.

3. Their AC bills are skyrocketing

Are their heating and cooling bills higher than average? Check the roof to see if there are any open areas. Heating and cooling systems circulate air through the building. This can cause suction that draws in air from the outside and affects the temperature of the building. A solid coat of spray foam may be what they need to get their energy bills under control.

4. An eco-friendly solution

Many home or business owners care about what’s going on in the environment and how they can help keep it clean. Foam roofing has low emission rates of VOCs and does not contain CFCs. It is an eco-friendly solution for commercial roof repair or replacement.

5. Roof replacement is expensive

If the building owner has to replace the roof, make sure they do it right by adding a layer of spray foam across the surface. SPF will give their entire building the protection it needs to sustain it for several decades. It provides their roof stability and durability to handle the harsh outside environment. Foam roof systems can last for over 50 years.

Make the switch to spray foam roofing systems

SPF roofing systems are a low-cost, energy-efficient solution for your customers' roof repairs or replacements. General Coatings offers spray foam insulation for both residential and commercial buildings. Our products are tested and certified for the highest quality in the industry.
