3 Ways Technology Can Help Contractors Upsell

Leap Open the Door Watch
September 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m.

By Grace Alexandria.

How technology can help your business flourish in an ever-evolving market.

In this special RLW, Heidi J. Ellsworth welcomes Brady Campbell from EagleView and Lynn Foster from AccuLynx. They discuss how to counteract the many difficulties contractors are facing when upselling by using newer forms of technology.

As more contractors are looking to upsell their customers, they need to stay on top of the highly competitive and quickly evolving market. Rising interest rates make it more expensive for homeowners to complete their projects or make their dream home. Yet homeowners’ expectations are simultaneously evolving to want things done better, faster and more thoroughly. Embracing technological advancements is the best way to juggle rising competition and demands and allows your business to grow alongside the market.

“I look at what technology does for the roofing contractor. It's really three things. It's communication, organization, and standardization,” says Lynn, the director of operations for AccuLynx. “Once you can standardize it and you can replicate it and you can scale it, now your business really grows. And if you're doing that, you're probably doing it more efficiently than you were when you're doing with paper. So now, you're making more money.”

Brady, who runs business development at EagleView, attests that when you’re more detailed on your workflows, you’ll be able to earn more profit and learn how to scale that profit. AccuLynx helps contractors create and repeat new processes so that you can be sure you’re using the best possible tools. This makes the process better for not only contractors, but also homeowners.

“So being able to come and show up with digitized tools, an automatic quote with your siding and your roof in place ready to go is the direction that they, the customer, wants you to be in,” states Brady. “At the end of the day, you spent so much time and money on this customer acquisition cost, you need to show up with everything you possibly can to monetize that opportunity.”
