2020 NEREF Scholarship Application Available Now

Fifteen scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded this year!

The scholarship application for the North East Roofing Educational Foundation Scholarship is now open!  Be sure to share this exciting opportunity with your employees and their families.  The deadline to apply is May 15, 2020. Applications can be found online or they can be mailed to you.  

The North East Roofing Contractors Association (NERCA) founded the North East Roofing Educational Foundation (NEREF).  They serve as the regional association for roofing contractors in the northeastern part of the United States.  Their territory includes: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Delaware.  

When the North East Roofing Educational Foundation was established in 1999, it was formed as a not-for-profit corporation.  The goal of this foundation is to assist individuals interested in pursuing post-secondary education who might not otherwise have the means to further their education.  High school seniors or graduates who intend to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study either at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or a vocational-technical school are encouraged to apply.  The NEREF scholarship is available to employees, immediate family of employees, or immediate family of NERCA members.

The generous donations from foundation members and contractors ensure the scholarships awarded are completely funded.  With that being said, there are still students who are turned away. Just last year over 40 deserving applicants didn’t receive scholarships.  NEREF is determined to provide additional scholarships in the coming years.  

Requirements for this scholarship include a completed application and current, complete transcripts from interested students.  According to the NEREF, scholarship recipients will be selected based on their academic records, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals, and an outside appraisal.  Financial need is also considered when selecting winners.

• Paxton Fetterman | North/East Roofing Contractors Association (NERCA) Scholarship | Slippery Rock University 

• Megan Cazeault | Eastern Architectural Representatives Scholarship | University of South Carolina

• James Lane | Lincoln R. McKie Memorial Scholarship | University of Vermont

• Vincent Maimone | Thomas S. Gunning Scholarship | La Salle University

• Brice Tolan | James McAdam Scholarship | Bentley University

For the 2020-2021 academic year, fifteen scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded!  

The North East Roofing Educational Foundation is eager to provide assistance to individuals interested in pursuing higher education.  This scholarship lessens the financial burden of attending a college, university, technical or vocational school.
