14 Students Awarded Scholarships by NEREF

NEREF provides financial assistance for employees or immediate family of our roofing contractors. 

In 1999, the North East Roofing Educational Foundation (NEREF) was formed as a not-for-profit corporation to provide North East Roofing Contractors Association (NERCA) roofing contractor employees and immediate family with scholarships for post-secondary education in college or vocational programs.  

This program awards $3,000 worth of scholarships. After the application deadline in May, NEREF Trustees met in June to approve the recipients of the annual NEREF scholarships and are pleased to announce the following awards: 

• The Robert W. Therrien Sr., Scholarship was awarded to Isabella Crotta of Northford, Connecticut. Isabella will be entering her senior year at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. 
• The recipient of the Robert W. and Beverly G. Therrien Sr., Scholarship is Victor Canavan of Chicopee, Massachusetts. Victor will be entering his freshman year at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. 
• The recipient of the 23rd Robert F. and Marion R. Shea Jr., Memorial Scholarship is Jayden Montagna of Agawam, Massachusetts. Jayden will be entering his freshman year at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. 
• The recipient of the 21st James A. McBrady Sr. Memorial Scholarship is Lily Bond of Keene, New Hampshire. Lily will be entering her senior year at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. 
• The recipient of the 20th Firestone Platinum Scholarship is Lilly Potter of Palermo, Maine. Lilly will be entering her freshman year at University of Maine at Farmington in Farmington, Maine. 
• The recipient of the 19th Logie Family Trust Scholarship is Brendan McNamara of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Brendan will be entering his sophomore year at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.  
• The recipient of the 18th North/East Roofing Contractors Association (NERCA) Scholarship is Grace LaPoint of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Grace will be entering her freshman year at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.   
• The recipient of the 16th Eastern Architectural Representatives Scholarship is Lucy Norton of Brookline, New Hampshire. Lucy will be entering her sophomore year at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. 
• The recipient of the 12th Lincoln R. McKie Memorial Scholarship is Garrett Daley of Springfield, Massachusetts. Garrett will be entering his freshman year at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.  
• The recipient of the 10th Thomas S. Gunning Scholarship is Kara Francis of Suffield, Connecticut. Kara will be entering her freshman year at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut.  
• The recipient of the 8th James McAdam Scholarship is Anthony DeMarco of Bethel, Connecticut. Anthony will be entering his sophomore year at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. 
• The recipient of the 4th North East Roofing Educational Foundation (NEREF) is Hannah Redding of Hanover, Pennsylvania. Hannah will be entering her freshman year at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. 
• The recipient of the 3rd Angelo A. Gentile Sr. Scholarship is Maura O’Connor of West Hatfield, Massachusetts. Maura will be entering her junior year at University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. 
• The recipient of the 3rd Richard N. Jenkins Family Trust Scholarship is Lindsey Johnson of Ronkonkoma, New York. Lindsey will be entering her freshman year at State University New York in New Paltz, New York. 

The trustees are extremely grateful for the donations that fund these scholarships and are hopeful for the future of this program.
