By StealthBond.

Properly installed StealthBond® components offer environmental, damage protection, and noise level benefits.

Metal is a superior material choice for roofing installations. Homeowners can count on the many characteristics to benefit and protect their home. Below we've addressed some of the typical concerns we've heard from homeowners in their roofing decision-making process.

Lightning

It's a commonplace concern for a homeowner to worry about the potential for a metal roof to attract lightning. Fortunately, there isn’t evidence that supports a metal roof is a concern in terms of attracting electricity. Metal is an excellent conductor of heat but doesn't attract electricity. If lightning were to strike, it would typically hit the highest object such as a tree, phone or electricity pole.

Hail Damage

Metal roofing is an excellent option when it comes to protecting the home from leaks. There are, however, storms that occur where hail is present. If you are looking for a roofing solution with the best resistance to damage, metal is the top choice. In fact, they are so well known and respected for their opposition to damage; some insurance policies will provide a discount if a metal roof is installed.

Noise Level

The sound of rain on an old tin roof is a stereotypical idea of a metal roofing system. Residential roofing installation over decking reduces the flow of sound waves into the home. Additionally, there is the presence of an attic that also absorbs and acts as a barrier to noise. If there is space present in the home where there is a lack of attic space or insulation, you can talk to your metal roofing contractor about the ability to add extra sound deadening insulation options.

Environmental

For homeowners whose concerns are buying and installing an energy efficient roof, metal is the most superior choice on the market. The durability alone makes it a sustainable product because it will last between 30 and 50 years. Metal roofing is recognized for its ability to heat and cool buildings efficiently through its reflective properties. This ability is often enhanced by special coatings that make it even more reflective which saves on the heating and cooling bills.

Installation

Every roofing solution will work best when installed properly, and the same goes for metal roofing. There are certain aspects of metal roof installation that can be troublesome if not handled appropriately. Traditional metal roofing solutions use screws to keep the panels in place. These screws, if installed too tightly or too loosely can create gaps in the surface and eventually leaks in the system. When you are choosing a metal roof, look for a system that uses adhesive rather than screws to avoid unnecessary leakage issues.

Installed exclusively by authorized installing dealers, StealthBond® is the only concealed adhesive system that uses structural adhesive technology eliminating the need for surface-penetrating screws.

The StealthBond® System is made up of 3 major components including the StealthConnector®, StealthBond® Adhesive, and StealthBond® Metal Roofing Panels. StealthBond® is a system, not just an adhesive; however, the StealthBond® Adhesive featured in the system plays a huge part in eliminating fasteners.
