By Cotney Construction Law.

The construction industry has only begun to scratch the service and open the door to new possibilities due to technology.

By using and improving the technology available, the construction industry can improve productivity and efficiency -  technology is the key to these improvements.

There are several reasons why the construction industry needs an upgrade in the technology department - here are a few mentioned by our construction lawyers: the industry is plagued with overly complex and bureaucratic processes, slow document control and distribution and a lack of access to needed information.

Close the Performance Gap: Most construction executives and managers believe that technology can be a bridge to closing the performance gap. They believe this can be done by implementing management information systems, building information modeling and advanced data analytics. These installations will have the greatest ROI and will help construction companies to build smarter and increase their performance.

Reduce Manpower: Even though the construction industry is experiencing a labor shortage, the use of technology in construction has the capability to not only increase the productivity of workers and other projects, but it also has the ability to decrease injuries. A great example is Tybot - this machine has all of the abilities of a human worker, it can even tie rebar on bridges, and limit rebar related injuries. A decrease in injuries and increase in productivity will also reduce your need for a Sarasota construction attorney.

Attract New Talent: The millennial generation is one that has never known life without technology - and upgrading your company’s technology is a great attribute to attract this generation of workers to the construction industry. Programs like IoT-based wearables, analytics solutions and smart tools are just the beginning of the products that progressive construction companies are utilizing to incentivize the millennial generation to join the industry.
