Discontinued Shingles Master Class (Day One):
This class will cover discontinued shingles and how to handle material concerns surrounding compatibility, availability and repairability. The class provides a history of various shingle changes over the past 20 years and ways to identify older product. The content will cover how to evaluate repairs by understanding compatibility, availability, and repairability (C.A.R) of products. This includes a presentation of various International Residential Codes (IRC) that are relevant to evaluating a roof assembly for repairs. The class continues into how to present issues of C.A.R. to an insurance company when a storm damage claim is involved in the repair request. The class will cover ways to be consistent, professional, and logical when meeting with an insurance adjuster.
Deliverables for this class:
Documents/Deliverables: Discontinued shingles cheat sheet, current shingles cheat sheet, current laminate shingles photo file, discontinued letters and files, presentation in PDF form, repair attempt video, The English to Metric presentation and other supporting documents.
Mastering Documentation and Presentation of the Details (Day Two): This class will focus on how to maximize each inspection and prepare for the long haul that any claim could experience. The class will cover the value of showing all of the concerns on the roof and not just the damage. The concept will center around a strong initial inspection that prepares for the many defenses the carrier could present. This class will also cover secondary reports/inspections that may need to take place after the initial adjustment. There will be example reports/inspections provided for the reports styles covered in the class. The final component will be presenting the information, reports, documentation, and more to the carrier and how that can be paired with supplementing. In addition to the example reports/inspections students will also receive the language and notes John uses to build out his reports.
ADDED BONUS: I will be spending more focused time on hail damage, documenting it, showing why it is actually damaged and how to avoid some of the common hail denials.
