Robin has been in the metal roofing industry since 1986, when as a third-generation metal worker, he started in custom manufacturing, pushing the assist side of a ten-foot Chicago brake with his grandfather. Through years of hard work and learning, Robin graduated into managing installation crews, estimating and eventually ownership of the company that his grandfather had started in 1949.
Metal roofing continues to grow in popularity and in market share across building sectors. Understanding the factors influencing the choice of materials, forming of panels and proper installation techniques, improves contractor efficiency and building owner satisfaction. In this series of clinics, presenters from the Metal Construction Association and Metal Roofing Alliance, discuss choosing the right material for the job, present industry best practices for the installation of metal shingles and standing seam panels and demonstrate proper techniques for on-site rollforming.
This course is focused on considerations when choosing a quality preformed metal shingle for your project, practical installation techniques and overall best practices. We will cover considerations for panel and accessory selection, how to layout panels when dealing with roof penetrations, and installation techniques for perimeter detailing and common penetrations.
