5 Signs That it is Time to Upgrade your Software

By Contractor’s Cloud.

When your business demands more powerful project management.

  1. You’re using too many tools

If you’re using excel, a cloud system and a time tracker, with multiple applications it is time to consider upgrading.  Using lots of different tools opens the door for duplication, wasted time, and inefficiency.  In roofing it is important to use the tools that fit the trade.  Having software that manages customers and projects that can also integrate easily with additional stages of the workflow for a seamless work space is critical.  Keeping employees in one strong system that incorporates or integrates all the tools you need can save you money.

  1. You want your work to be in the cloud

If you are still using installed software, it is time to upgrade.  Cloud-based software offers the flexibility and scalability that is needed for your business.  In roofing, teammates are in the field, on the roof and in trucks and they all need access for strong communications with the office.   If you have a highly-customized system, it is going to eventually slow you down as you are passed by competition using nimbler cloud-based software.  And don’t forget security.

  1. Your software isn’t growing with you

Is your software growing with you?  As your business expands, there needs to be strong evaluation of the effectiveness of your software.  Are you outgrowing it?  It is hard to make the change but with inadequate software you will find that you are missing opportunities, hurting moral and making mistakes.   Take the time to determine what the company needs to be successful and it is better to get more than you need and grow into it rather than outgrowing it sooner than later.

  1. The software doesn’t provide adequate updates

A stagnant software is a stagnant company.  Software companies should be constantly developing, updating and improving their offering.  Contractor driven software development means that the software company is listening to their customers and what they need.  Just like your business constantly evolves you should expect the same from your software.  Companies that provide structured updates that are well tested through an easy cloud-based system will keep your software and company on the cutting edge.

  1. Your software is too complicated for new hires

With the labor shortage, having software programs that are easy to train on and understand is critical.  Onboarding new employees is never easy, but the company’s technology solutions should not make it easier, it should make it easier.  Be sure you are working closely with your software provider for up-to-date training manuals, user guides, phone support and online reference so that your whole team has the resources they need to make the most of your software choices.
