Duro-Last's commitment to sustainability shines through at IIBEC

Duro-Last Sustainability at IIBEC

By Dani Sheehan.

Didn’t make it to IIBEC’s trade show this year? Catch up on what you missed at the Duro-Last booth in this live interview.

The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC)'s mission is to advance the profession of building enclosure consultants in roofing, waterproofing and exterior walls. We caught up with some RoofersCoffeeShop® partners during the 2024 IIBEC International Convention and Trade Show in Phoenix, Arizona, to hear how the industry is advancing this year. In a live interview, Al Janney from Duro-Last® shared his excitement at the show and some of the products and services Duro-Last can offer in their commitment to improving sustainability.

He’s been in the roofing industry for 45 years and says, “Today, I do product testing and coding approvals. So, the neat thing about that job is it’s like putting tools in a toolbox for our contractors. We’ll go out and test these assemblies, and then we get them added to our statewide reports.”

Duro-Last prides itself in providing resiliency, durability and customization to meet the needs of any contractor. Al shares, “[Contractors] like the longevity that we can put into a roof system and how we're able to handle those type of items and the ability that we have as far as being able to recycle a job. So, if it's a re-roof on an existing building, there's a possibility that that membrane could come back, and it could be part of that circularity of the material coming back and being put into another product that can be used again.”

Tess Heston, Duro-Last's sustainability specialist, agrees that sustainability is an important push this year, both from IIBEC and other consultants. She adds, “Building owners are becoming more and more aware, and they want to have more sustainable buildings. And there's fortunately so many great products and directions a contractor and an architect can go in to have a more sustainable building.”

Watch the full interview below to learn more about the products Duro-Last can bring to building owners around sustainability and decarbonization.
