Anthony Delmedico Wins the Storm

Anthony Delmedico:  training and coaching restoration contractors to work with insurance companies and claims

For many roofing contractors, roofing insurance claims are a mystery.  But for the last 10 – 15 years, the industry has seen the growth of contractors who are focused on insurance restoration work.   Through this change, many contractors have been left behind in their own local community, losing business to traveling restoration contractors who know how to administer those important insurance claims for customers.

Anthony Delmedico, CEO and Founder, of the Storm Ventures Group and Creator of Win the Storm and the book Win the Game, was one of the original restoration contractors to not only provide services in his local community in Minnesota but to travel the United States providing roofing services for storm effected areas.  He has been active in training new restoration contractors to understand the complexity of insurance work for the past several years but has recently understood the need to also train local contractors for this type of work when a storm or event hits their community.

Delmedico served as a 2nd Lieutenant infantry officer during Desert Storm. As a disabled veteran, he later earned his MBA which he combined with his entrepreneurial experience along with 25 years in the construction industry to launch him into the roofing industry.   Delmedico started his first construction company, Abelard Construction, in the basement of his house in 2000 with a card table, six folding chairs and his own two hands. He grew the startup to over $163M in 10 years.

During this time, he realized that there was an incredible need for insurance training on the local level.  “I really saw a need in the industry to provide construction and restoration companies the tools and skills to mobilize and expand their businesses by adding insurance work to their service offerings,” stated Delmedico.  “I wanted to create a conference and products that could create a winning business plan for contractors.”

When hurricane Sandy hit he was meeting with contractors in New York and his earlier realization was validated as he talked to a number of the contractors who needed help on how to work with insurance companies.  He changed his focus from growing his roofing company to creating a company that could help with marketing, training and coaching contractors to work with insurance companies and claims.

“I wanted to bring the knowledge of working insurance claims to the masses.  There are a number of systems, forms and processes that contractors need,” continued Delmedico.  “I want to see contractors create an insurance restoration division and be able to expand their services.  Local companies need the basics of running a claim and working a storm beforehand in order to keep their business and customers.”

For local contractors who do not have insurance claims experience it is a daunting process.  The first thing they need is the right set of contracts, forms and documents.  “Storm Venture Group has focused on providing the basic collateral and training to start providing restoration services,” said Delmedico.  “So to Win the Storm it is about having the right set of documents and understanding how to use them.  Without the right foundation you will not even be competitive.”

“Training is critical,” Delmedico continued. “The sales team must be trained or they will lose jobs to more experienced restoration contractors.  The contractor who signs the most contingency agreements wins the storm.  Speed to market is very important.  If they are waiting for the call or getting to it a week later, it does not work.  By that time, the homeowner has already signed a contingency agreement and is now committed to the traveling contractor or local restoration company.”

Storm Venture Group offers branding and marketing documents, presentations and forms that are customized.  “It is not about changing your business plan but having the information and program in place when the storm hits to keep your local customers,” noted Anthony Delmedico, CEO and Founder, of the Storm Ventures Group and Creator of Win the Storm and the book Win the Game.  “If you wait for the storm to pass, you are already 30 days behind everyone else.  They will get contingencies signed in first 90 days and tie up all the repairs.”

A key offering from SVG is Delmedico’s book, Win the Game.  It offers an insightful look at the restoration business and how to make it a part of a roofing company’s services.  Win the Game provides an arsenal for existing contractors wanting to scale their companies to the next level, as well as new entrepreneurs looking for that next big opportunity in this exciting and explosive niche industry.  A free E-Book of Win the Game is available at www.stormventuresgroup.com/product/win-the-game-e-book.

The book is accompanied by ongoing training systems that help contractors incorporate what they learn into everyday practices.  Visit the new SVG Contractor Store and get anything and everything you need to grow your business after the storm hits. All new and improved contract, forms, documents, sales training, product systems, new training videos, and much more!  The SVG Team brands it all up for you.  SVG is helping thousands of contractors, scale their companies and sales in the $100B+ insurance restoration industry.  For more information visit www.stormventuresgroup.com or call 330-57-STORM.
