Choosing the right ventilation for your project needs

FlashCo Choosing the Right Ventilation
November 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

Figuring out which kind of vent is best for your project needs is incredibly important for proper building ventilation. The experts from FlashCo share their insights.

In a recent episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, host Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Rick Morrow and Randy O’Shea of FlashCo to discuss their knowledge of the ventilation process, which vents are best for various project needs and how the latest ventilation products from FlashCo are changing the game!

FlashCo’s latest product, the FlashVent EZ Flapper™ Exhaust Vent, is helping contractors reduce time spent up on the roof. For the commercial roofing contractor looking for a quality product, the FlashCo EZ Flapper is a new solution perfect for single ply and BUR roofing systems.

“We don’t want air coming down through other vents,” Rick shared, discussing the types of vents used on flat commercial roofs. He continued, “So the flapper prevents air from other things on the roof, keeping it from getting down inside. It also helps prevents moisture from entering the structure.”

The Flapper is also designed to be easy to maintain. Rick shared, “Maintenance guys have an easier time with the Flapper; the top comes off and it’s easy to clean out, especially those dryer vents, which we know are a big fire hazard.”

They shared that in recent years, their breather vents have become a hot commodity, as many contractors look to fix their moisture problems, especially in reroofing projects. Rick shared, “We’re selling thousands of them now... When re-roofing, there’s a bit of moisture trapped underneath, so breather vents have become commonplace on single-ply roofs in the American Northwest. It’s also spreading in popularity in other parts of the country with high condensation.”
